SchoolsLaura Weber, Ryan Grant are named Golden EaglesMay 20, 2008 - 9:32am — markaweberTwo Eden Prairie High School seniors who are outstanding in both athletics and academics – Laura Weber and Ryan Grant – were named winners of the Golden Eagle Awards this morning. Twenty finalists for the annual award were recognized by the Eden Prairie (A.M.) Rotary Club, which has been presenting Golden Eagle Awards since 1989. Students are scored on a point system that takes into account their performance in the classroom and in sports during grades 9-12. The top male and top female each win a trophy and $1,000 scholarship. Golf Classic to support EPHS BandMay 16, 2008 - 12:14pm — Leah ShafferThe Eden Prairie Band Parent Organization is hosting the second annual Prairie Colors Golf Classic Monday, July 28, at Bent Creek Golf Course. Proceeds from the event benefit EPHS band programs. According to a news release, “the event will be a scramble format with a noon shotgun start. Cost for 18 holes of golf, golf cart and awards banquet is $125 per golfer. Planned are several on course hole and skills contests. Focus off homework, on study time for Eden Lake studentsMay 14, 2008 - 1:32pm — Leah ShafferSince February, Eden Lake Elementary has adopted a policy of cutting the homework in lieu of putting the emphasis on a practice called study time. The study time policy encourages parents to spend at least 15 minutes, five nights a week reading with their children. Beyond that, it’s open ended as to what the student could work on – but, no work has to be taken back to school and graded.
Alex Messinger and Micaele Edwards receive their books for My Book Day. Each student receives his or her own pre-picked hard-bound book for the event, which is sponsored by the Eden Prairie Noon Rotary.
