“Amy Fogarty of Eden Prairie will graduate with honors from the Kirov Ballet Academy of Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at their 11 a.m. ceremonies. That evening, she will perform at the Kirov for the last time,” according to a news release.

“Amy left Eden Prairie High School her junior year to further her study of ballet at the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington, D.C. Her road to Kirov actually began in 1999 at Dance Arts Centre in Eden Prairie. She studied ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical and tap. In addition to this competitive dancing, Amy also joined Eden Prairie’s contemporary ballet company in 2003, La Danse Fatale, under the direction of Julia Levina.

“In addition to dancing at Kirov, Amy auditioned for and was accepted into the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts Master Class Series this year. This program offered selected ballet students the opportunity to take Master Ballet Classes with various ballet companies that were in DC, performing at the Kennedy Center. Amy was fortunate to take master classes this year with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, the New York City Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Kirov Ballet of Russia, and the New National Theatre Ballet, Tokyo. Amy also flew back home in February to perform a solo with La Danse Fatale at their Showcase performances in Eden Prairie. As Amy said, ‘I will never forget my roots nor will I ever forget Julia. She is the reason I am here, doing what I love. She has been, and continues to be, my role model.’”

Amy is set to begin the next chapter of her dance career with Colorado Ballet, under the artistic direction of Gil Boggs. Dancing in Denver begins at the end of July.
