Rev. Leith Anderson, senior pastor of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, was scheduled to meet Pope Benedict XVI Friday, during the Pope’s first visit to the United States.
According to a news release from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Pope was scheduled to lead an ecumenical prayer service April 18 at St. Joseph’s Church in Manhattan.
National and local Protestant and Orthodox church leaders were set to attend the service.
Anderson was to be among 10 national and five local ecumenical leaders greeted by the Pope at the end of the ceremony, the release said.
Anderson is president of the National Association of Evangelicals.
