A fumble on the second play of the game led to three Burnsville points, but that was it as the Eden Prairie High School football team cruised to 34-3 victory and another Eden Prairie section championship.
Defense again was the story as the Eagles limited the Blaze to only two first downs; in last week’s win over Minnetonka, the Eagle defense didn’t allow a first down.
All totaled, the Blaze finished with 115 yards of total offense, most of which came late in the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach.
Eden Prairie, by comparison, racked up 364 yards of offense, 259 on the ground and 105 through the air.
Friday, Eden Prairie opens state tournament play at Roseville, 20-15 winners over White Bear Lake.
Friday’s game begins at 7 p.m.
