Congratulations to the

Congratulations to the Chamber. Many happy memories of serving with the Chamber and on its board. I was an EP resident from 1979 until 1992, and worked on the Chamber on behalf of Wooddale Church, on whose staff I served.

Marge Frederichs was our director, and we had a great relationship with both the Chamber and the local ministerium. The Chamber membership was quite helpful as we bought the land at Shady Oak Road and 169 and prepared to build the first building--I think we first occupied it in July of 1984. We also established the first police and fire chaplaincy program, working with the clergy and the Chamber. Seems to me EP had about 30,000 residents back then, and many Chamber functions were held at Quail Creek, The Flagship club, and others.

I'm glad the Chamber continues to be a strong advocate for local businesses, and hope it fills the cohesive role in the community it did during the 1980s. Thanks for the opportunity to bring back some good memories!

--Terry White

Pioneer Trail Reconstruction

Pioneer Trail Reconstruction might impact the other pumpkin patch in town --Marshall's Farm market. Construction vehicles may be taking up some of the land owned by the Marshalls where the pumpkin patch would go in (over at Pioneer Trail and Eden Prairie Road). The Marshall family plans to operate its market during the construction period, but it is yet unknown how much of their land is impacted.

Day Two from China trip:
We

Day Two from China trip:

We flew into Changsha airport and were met by a small delegation from Loudi. We then had lunch and took a two hour bus ride to Loudi. The Chinese countryside is beautiful. The highways are very well groomed - lots of hedges and flowers planted. This part of China is warmer and very humid.

As we arrived at the city, we were met by a police escort all the way through town and to the hotel. As we entered the hotel, we were greeted by a large contingency and a lot of media - cameras everywhere. After 20 minutes of getting settled, we were taken to the Loudi High School and met their school officials, were brought into a classroom and answered questions from the students. We were then treated to a wonderful show of student performances from singing to dancing to piano playing - all very well done.

We had dinner with the Mayor and finished with business meetings broken into two groups - Chamber of Commerce and media. We discussed ways that we can work together in a mutually beneficial way and will continue to build on the City's strategic partnership that was started four years ago.
