Sam, I agree with everything you said except for we won't be fooled again. I think EP should grandfather existing members for the health club fees. This whole concept is a joke. No one I know is going to pay those exhorbitant fees when they can pay the same at a quality health club. EP is really a wolf in sheep clothing. I have been here since 1971, seen it all, and laugh at the newbies. Do I sound negative? Probably.

I'm with Jsens: The fitness part of club isn't what you might call: "fitness class". It is not compeittive with surrounding facilities. Just because the size increased, doesn't suggest the type of fee's being asked. The size increase is mostly an ice sheet...does that new ball field become part as well? It's the old "do-gooders" the frustrated jock parents putting up a tajmahal for their kid to become something they weren't. Now we just all sit back and say: "well, that's Eden Prairie." Isn't there anyone in the city that has taken Accounting or Booking I. This Community Paper didn't do it's job fully informing the people of Eden Prairie who now have to pick up another tab....Oh well, that's just Eden Prairie. I don't think we'll be fooled another time.

Cynic as I am, I laughed out loud when I saw this article and the outraged letters. Did anybody who voted for the expanded center not understand that fees would be raised mightily? Of course the promoters of the expanded community center conveniently "forgot" to mention the increase while they were chasing votes. What else would you expect? Truth? Complete details? Hello?

The promoters have done a number on EP residents with surprisingly little negative reaction. Recall that the promoters' next step after citizens authorized the expansion was to go way over budget. There was a little murmuring, but EP residents dutifully swallowed hard and down it all went.

Now comes the next chapter in this saga: the bad news to families who can't afford private facilities and won't be able to afford the new center either.

Don't you wonder what's next?
