Additionally, Schiemo had received the local Buck Hill Ski Patrol Student Patroller of the Year award in 2005. The National Ski Patrol has 24,000 members, “of which a small percentage are student patrollers,” according to a news release. “Buck Hill Ski Patrol has one of the largest Student Patroller groups of all the Western Region ski areas, boasting eight Student Patrollers out of a total of 85 patrollers.
